Field Agronomist - Pacific Northwest

Job Type Full-time Description Vision Bioenergy Oilseeds (VBO) is a new agricultural joint venture with the mission of developing, growing and marketing high quality oilseed oil for use in the production of biofuels to help create a cleaner, more sustainable future. We operate a research & development center and processing facility in Nampa, Idaho and have a corporate office in Longmont, Colorado. The Agronomist will be responsible for the safe, effective and efficient production fields in assigned geographic areas. Field activities may operate 7 days/week, 24 hours per day for portions of the year. They will recruit growers, manage grower rotations and isolations and serve as a primary field contact for production which includes: grower management and support (acreage planning, quality control, etc.), coordinating integrated pest management program when applicable. Responsible for training and education of field employees and growers in agronomy, trait purity, seedsmanship and safety. Requirements We are looking for an experienced, knowledgeable, team player with strong ability to think critically and solve problems and make decisions in time-sensitive, high-pressure environment. The successful candidate will have a bachelors degree in agriculture or related discipline and 1-3 years' experience in seed production. Must have a valid driver's license and be willing to travel 30-50% of the time. Must possess excellent multi-faceted functional knowledge of current agronomic practices including but not limited to: crop physiology, crop diagnostics, IPM, pollination, and crop protection activities including insect and weed management. Must have the ability to obtain State and/or Local pesticide license. High proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn new software. PCA or CCA accreditation preferred. Project management and prior functional project experience preferred. Candidates must be located in the Pacific Northwest. There is NO relocation assistance for this position.
