About the position The position at the Herbert Wertheim School of Public Health and Human Longevity Science involves providing fiscal operations support for a diverse portfolio, including general, gift, self-supporting, and education program funds, as well as post-award research administration. The role emphasizes financial analysis, resource management, and collaboration with Principal Investigators engaged in research activities. The incumbent will work under the supervision of the Assistant Business Officer/Director of Finance & Operations, contributing to the School's mission of promoting public health innovations and equity. Responsibilities Provide fiscal operations support for various funds and post-award research administration. , Review and maintain financial encumbrances in the general ledger. , Process financial journals and report default activity corrections. , Design and implement financial systems to enhance performance and outcomes. , Perform complex financial analysis and provide recommendations for resource use. , Establish and maintain working relationships with internal and external contacts. , Support Principal Investigators with post-award research activities and clinical trials. , Assist with miscellaneous projects and tasks as assigned. Requirements Seven (7) years of related experience, education/training, or a Bachelor's degree in a related area plus three (3) years of related experience/training. , Thorough knowledge of finance policies, practices, and systems. , Ability to independently gather information and perform financial analysis assignments. , Proven ability to present information clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing. , Strong Excel skills including pivots, filtering, and advanced formulae. , Proven interpersonal skills and strong service orientation. , Ability to multi-task in a high volume environment and prioritize workload effectively. , Thorough understanding of internal control practices and research administration guidelines. Nice-to-haves Experience with UCSD online and web-based accounting systems. , Five (5) or more years of relevant experience.
