As a senior level executive of the Company, reporting to the Director of Finance and Operations, the Controller will be responsible for the management of the Accounting Department. This includes providing clear, concise financial information, and making sound, educated, economic decisions for the Company. The Controller is responsible for overall executive oversight of general accounting, business services, including financial and statistical reporting functions of the organization in accordance with established policies and accounting procedures. Essential Functions • Oversees Accounting department, budget preparation, and audit functions. • Oversee weekly cash management; Approve weekly payables; Execute check signing. • Review all month-end closing activities including general ledger maintenance, balance sheet reconciliations and corporate/overhead cost allocation. • Serve as final point of escalation for Accounts Receivable/Accounts Payable issues Works with other department heads to monitor each department and make recommendations. • As a true business partner to the senior leadership, assess organizational performance against department goals, industry metrics and company's long-term strategy. • Develop tools and systems to provide critical financial and operational information to the Director of Finance and Operations and make actionable recommendations on both strategy and operations. • Manages month-end, quarterly and year-end close, producing internal financials. Partners with tax accountants monthly and at year end for audits and annual taxes. • Responsible for internal AR, AP, and Tax Audits. • Participate in key decisions pertaining to strategic initiatives, operating model and operational execution. • Oversee long-term budgetary planning and costs management in alignment with strategic plan, especially as the organization considers potential acquisitions and collaborations with external organizations. • Enhance and implement financial and accounting systems, processes, tools, and control systems. • Mentor and develop the team of direct reports, managing work allocation, training, problem resolution, performance evaluation, and the building of an effective team dynamic. • May perform other duties as assigned. Education and/or Work Experience Requirements: • Master's degree, or equivalent, in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance preferred. • Certified Public Accountant designation, or willing to earn/reinstate CPA designation within first year of employment. • Eight to ten years of experience in financial management required.
