Role Overview

The Fishery Management Specialist will support the development and implementation of actions to improve fisheries management, reduce regulatory burden, and strengthen domestic seafood production. The role requires strong attention to detail, ability to manage complex regulatory processes, and excellent communication skills. The position is full-time, remote, and requires core availability during standard business hours.

What You Will Do

The employee will perform a variety of tasks related to fishery management, including developing and drafting fishery management actions, conducting scientific and policy analyses, and supporting implementation of management measures. The role also involves coordinating with NOAA Fisheries Regional Offices and Atlantic Highly Migratory Species Division, and preparing technical documents and reports.

Why It Might Be a Fit

The ideal candidate will have a PhD in fisheries science, marine policy, or related field, or a Master's degree with 7+ years of experience in fisheries related technical management. The candidate should have demonstrated experience with federal fisheries management actions, strong working knowledge of the MSA, and experience supporting or conducting NEPA analyses.
