About the Role Our client, a prominent logistics and transportation company based in Columbus, Ohio , is seeking a skilled Fleet Maintenance Technician with expertise in automotive diesel engines. This hybrid role involves both hands-on mechanical work at our facility and remote diagnostic and planning tasks. The technician will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of our diverse fleet of trucks and commercial vehicles to ensure optimal performance and safety. This is a vital role in minimizing downtime and upholding the high operational standards of our logistics network. The ideal candidate possesses a strong diagnostic acumen, mechanical proficiency, and a commitment to preventative maintenance. Key Responsibilities Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, and other vehicle systems. Conduct routine preventative maintenance services, including oil changes, tire rotations, and fluid checks. Inspect vehicles for wear and tear, identifying potential issues before they lead to breakdowns. Utilize diagnostic tools and specialized equipment to identify and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems. Maintain accurate service records for all vehicles, including parts used and labor hours. Collaborate with fleet managers and dispatchers to schedule repairs and minimize vehicle downtime. Participate in remote diagnostic sessions, providing technical insights for vehicles on the road. Ensure all work complies with safety regulations and company standards. Order and manage inventory of parts and supplies as needed. Stay current with advancements in automotive diesel technology and repair techniques. Requirements Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic or Fleet Maintenance Technician. Strong knowledge of diesel engine systems, hydraulics, electrical systems, and air brakes. Proficiency with diagnostic software and specialized automotive tools. Ability to interpret technical manuals and schematics. Valid driver's license; CDL is a plus. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Good communication and problem-solving skills. High school diploma or equivalent; ASE certifications are highly desirable.
