Job title: Fluent Solar Accounting Controller Company: Fluent Job description: We are looking for a seasoned Controller to join our growing team. The Controller will be the chief architect in developing the strategic roadmap to mature our Accounting operations and implement best-in-class process, policy, systems, and controls. You will lead the monthly financial close process, oversee preparation of financial reporting in-line with US GAAP, and support annual financial audits with outside independent audit firms. Process improvement and scalability will be at the forefront of everything you do. You will leverage best practices to stand-up new processes and financial controls. GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The controller at Fluent Solar is a key member of the senior management team with full accountability for the management and oversight of the financial operations of a privately held corporation. The Controller must be an individual who is proactive, self motivated who requires minimal supervision. This individual must have a solid background in finance and accounting and must have superior business judgment that will enable him/her to be able to lead the Finance and Accounting Department to perform all of its integral functions professionally and seamlessly including but not limited to general ledger, accounts payable, payroll, financial statement preparation, financial reporting and analysis, treasury management, budgeting/planning, cost controls and sales tax preparation. This position is also responsible for managing important relationships including those with banking and financial institutions, auditors, vendors, etc. This individual must have sufficient people skills to be able to interact frequently and routinely with other members of senior management and operations as well as outside professionals in the Finance and Accounting field The ideal candidate for this position will have the following: The successful candidate is resilient, has a can-do attitude, and enjoys the continuous learning curve of a fast-paced startup. The Controller will report directly to the Vice President of Finance and will be a crucial leader of our growing Finance & Accounting team. Qualifications: • Masters in Business Administration degree • CPA certification is preferred but not required • Minimum of 5 years’ experience with a company with some or all of the following characteristics: High growth, multi-branch, recurring revenue, subscriber based with a large and growing residential customer base. • Extensive Job Costing experience, preferably in the Construction industry. • In-depth experience with US GAAP framework, policies, and procedures. • Accounting software and ERP implementation experience across multiple platforms, including NetSuite Core Responsibilities: • Design and implement best-practice Accounting processes and controls in-line with US GAAP. • Oversee execution of monthly close process and timely execution of accurate Financial statements. • Stand-up best-practice financial controls – Bank Reconciliations, Financial Audit, Controls Testing, Fixed Asset management, etc. • Oversee AR / AP team in execution of customer collections and timely vendor payments; streamline and automate transaction processing through ERP integration. • Support 3rd party advisors to ensure Company is compliant with both federal and local tax requirements. • Stand-up fundamental Treasury capabilities and oversee central cash management. • Act as Functional Lead for ERP implementation as it relates to Record-to-Report processes; support implementation partner in requirements gathering and process design. • Quarter-back audit-readiness efforts as Fluent Solar prepares for its first financial audit; build long-term partnership with our independent auditor. • Scale and optimize the Accounting function to support long-term Company growth; develop best-practice process and automate through technology. • Support FP&A Manager in commentary and variance analysis in preparation for leadership business reviews • All other duties reasonably assigned Individual must be highly motivated to attain company goals, both qualitatively and quantitatively. Must have strong verbal, written, analytical and interpersonal skills. Must be available to work extended hours and weekends during month end close and other high-priority projects as assigned.
