We are seeking a highly motivated and results-driven Freight Dispatcher to book loads for our hotshot drivers. This role is heavily focused on building broker relationships, negotiating competitive freight rates, and ensuring consistent load flow for drivers. The ideal candidate is confident on the phone, skilled at negotiation, and thrives in a fast-paced logistics environment. The majority of the day will be spent contacting freight brokers, securing loads, negotiating rates, and coordinating with drivers to ensure smooth operations from pickup to delivery. Key Responsibilities Load Booking & Rate Negotiation Proactively call freight brokers daily to source and secure profitable loads Negotiate competitive rates to maximize driver revenue and company margins Search load boards such as DAT Freight & Analytics, Truckstop, and other industry platforms Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers for repeat business Review rate confirmations for accuracy before dispatching drivers Driver Communication & Support Dispatch loads to hotshot drivers with clear instructions and expectations Communicate pickup and delivery details, appointment times, and special requirements Monitor load progress and provide updates as needed Assist drivers with issue resolution (detention, layovers, TONU, etc.) Ensure all required documentation (PODs, BOLs) is submitted promptly Operational Coordination Plan efficient routes to reduce deadhead and maximize profitability Maintain accurate records of booked loads, rates, and broker contacts Track driver availability and coordinate backhauls Ensure compliance with DOT regulations and company policies Required Qualifications Previous experience as a freight dispatcher, broker agent, or logistics coordinator preferred Strong negotiation and closing skills Excellent verbal communication and phone confidence Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment Familiarity with load boards (DAT, Truckstop, etc.) Basic understanding of hotshot equipment (gooseneck trailers, weight limits, securement requirements) Proficiency with dispatch software Performance Expectations Meet or exceed weekly load booking targets Maintain strong rate-per-mile averages Minimize driver downtime and deadhead miles Maintain positive broker and driver relationships Compensation Performance-based commission of 5% (based on loads booked and revenue generated)
