As the Head of Editorial - India, you are at the confluence of music and business for Spotify India. You will lead a team of editors and leverage your music, business and consumer insights to drive Spotify India’s business objectives in the market. Using your insights and analytical skills, you will develop and implement the India music strategy and build long term value for Spotify. You are a strong leader, have demonstrated people management experience and have performed well in roles that bring together your creative and business skills. This position is based in Mumbai and will report to the Head of Music & Podcasts, India. You will contribute your expertise to various areas within the company, including managing the playlist ecosystem, growing new genres and sounds, working with marketing and advertising sales projects and cross-functional collaboration with different teams in India and globally. You will provide deep cultural and musical insights to create highly engaging and cohesive music experiences for listeners while ensuring an unbiased editorial voice for a wide array of moods, moments, and genres. Additionally, you will drive artist discovery through an extensive editorial ecosystem of playlists and tools, critically assessing music trends and user behaviour to identify opportunities and emerging trends. You would have demonstrated strong business management skills and leadership qualities, a team player spirit, acumen for analytics and leveraged them for business objectives. You also come with a solid understanding of Spotify’s role in the music industry both locally and globally. As the Head of Editorial, you are expected to have strong business skills and use them to make data-informed decisions that impact Spotify’s business in India. What You'll Do Proactively identify music trends, emerging talent, and opportunities in the local and global music landscape and lead the cultural storytelling around music trens Be a strong leader who leads their editorial team to enable artist success through playlist curation across languages and leveraging on-platform tools and features Collaborate with global and regional editorial teams on programming initiatives and strategies to enhance Spotify’s market position. Contribute to creation and participate in implementing the overall India growth strategy for Spotify Work closely with India leadership to drive the market’s focus areas and business objectives. Be an integral member of the leadership team Work cross-functionally with teams like marketing, advertising sales, and product to achieve audience engagement and revenue goals and integrate cultural insights into workflows Who You Are A minimum of 15+ years of experience in the media/ entertainment/ music industries with at least 5+ years in a leadership role You have strong business acumen and leadership skills You can connect consumer behavior to music culture and trends and are able to communicate that understanding to internal and external audiences You are an excellent communicator; you communicate well in English. Being conversant in 2-3 Indian languages will be an advantage You are skilled in interpreting data and analytics to inform editorial decisions and optimize performance. You are culturally aware, with the ability to critically evaluate trends, emerging movements, and audience behavior beyond just data You have experience of leading a diverse team, and of building a culture of innovation and performance You’re a team player who is organized, detail-oriented, adaptable to change, and consistently demonstrates a positive attitude Where You'll Be This role will be based in Mumbai, India We offer you the flexibility to work where you work best!
