Position: Health & Beauty Expert
Type: Hourly Contract
Location: Remote
Compensation: $40–$70/hour
Commitment: 10–40 hours/week
Responsibilities
• Evaluate beauty products such as skincare, makeup, haircare, and fragrances, assessing ingredient lists, formulation quality, shade/undertone fit, and hair type/texture suitability.
• Write clear, concise, and objective product recommendations with links, specifications, pros/cons, and buyer guidance tailored to different shopper needs.
• Compare beauty products across various price tiers and retailers, highlighting the best value options and premium products.
• Assess the inclusivity of products across skin tones, textures, and sensitivities, ensuring that safety considerations are noted and avoiding medical/therapeutic claims.
• Create structured comparisons and buyer’s guides based on real-world use cases, showcasing practical applications for different consumer needs.
• Review and refine AI-generated product suggestions, providing corrections, annotations, and additional context where necessary.
Requirements
• Hands-on background in retail (e.g., Sephora/Ulta), salon/MUA/esthetician work, beauty editorial, or a strong passion for beauty with a track record of expertise.
• Proven ability to evaluate products objectively and write clear, concise recommendations.
• Comfortable with cross-shopping across various retailers and price points, fluent in writing balanced pros/cons and providing clear specifications.
• Demonstrated judgment around inclusivity, safety, and the ethics of beauty product claims (no medical/therapeutic claims).
