Job Summary:
Under the direct supervision of a certified teacher, you will perform instructional support services, including providing one-on-one tutoring, assisting with classroom management, and compiling and maintaining accurate student records. You will also have the opportunity to conduct parent involvement activities, attend meetings and parent conferences, and provide support in a library or media center.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide instructional support services to students in need of academic intervention
- Assist with classroom management, including organizing instructional materials
- Compile and maintain accurate student records on attendance, testing results, and progress
- Conduct parent involvement activities, including contacting parents/legal guardians and coordinating parent/family school functions
- Attend meetings and parent conferences to provide information and facilitate communication between students/parents and instructors/school administration
- Provide support in a library or media center
- Conduct progress monitoring assessments and maintain accurate progress monitoring data
Requirements:
- Completed two years (48 semester credits) of study at an institution of higher education; or obtained an associate's degree or met a rigorous standard of quality
- Ability to maintain effective communication with students and staff and function effectively as a team member
- Ability to carry out and evaluate the achievement of students after the teacher prepares the lesson and plans the instructional support activities
- Demonstrate adequate level of instructional technology skills
- Experience and training working with children with diverse backgrounds in an instructional setting
