Job no: R-0000002476 Position Title: Ice Hockey Club Coach Faculty or Staff: Staff Full Time or Part Time: Part time In-Person, Hybrid, or Remote: In-Person Minimum Starting Rate of Pay: $20.00 Rate of pay commensurate with experience Start Date: 09/01/2025 Job Description: Mount Holyoke College is seeking a passionate and experienced coach to lead our Ice Hockey Club. This role offers an exciting opportunity to shape a vibrant student-athlete community, fostering both athletic excellence and personal growth. The coach will work collaboratively with student leaders to develop a competitive and inclusive program. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Coaching & Team Development: Design and lead engaging practices covering fundamental techniques, advanced strategies, rules, conditioning, and safety protocols. Organize and supervise drills, refine individual and team techniques, and simulate game situations to prepare for competition. Set clear expectations for effort and commitment, inspiring student-athletes to achieve their full potential. Work closely with the student board, recognizing their governance of club sports, to make informed decisions and build a unified team. Ensure strict adherence to all safety standards and departmental/facility policies. Attend and actively support the team during all practices and competitions. Collaborate with student leadership to cultivate a team environment that promotes the comprehensive development of student-athletes as individuals, leaders, and athletes. Champion a team culture that prioritizes health, well-being, and safety. Administrative Duties: Assist with competition scheduling and travel logistics, reporting to the Athletics and Student Involvement departments. Help enforce all Risk Management Policies and develop/implement robust safety procedures. Ensure the safety and proper maintenance of all team equipment. Stay current with USA Ice Hockey and American Collegiate Hockey Association rule changes, sport trends, and compliance requirements. Maintain accurate team attendance records and rosters. Serve as the PE Club Course Instructor, certifying PE credits in collaboration with the Assistant Athletic Director within registrar-specified timelines. Complete any required additional trainings. Qualifications: Demonstrated prior experience playing and/or coaching Ice Hockey. Familiarity with USA Ice Hockey policies and guidelines. Strong organizational, interpersonal, and oral communication abilities. A genuine commitment to student-athletes, a passion for the sport, and the ability to effectively coach and motivate. Willingness and ability to actively support and foster a diverse and inclusive team environment. Ability to work evenings and weekends as required. Possess a valid driver's license.
