Job Summary and Responsibilities As a Special Education Teacher in our RISE Program, you will play a vital role in supporting students with autism spectrum disorders and other social communicative disabilities. Your primary responsibility will be to provide academic, communication, and social skills instruction utilizing Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) techniques. You will work closely with students, parents, and other educators to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that cater to each student's unique needs and goals. Provide academic, communication, and social skills instruction to students with autism spectrum disorders and other social communicative disabilities Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with students, parents, and other educators Utilize ABA techniques to support student learning and behavior Collaborate with other educators and support staff to ensure a comprehensive and supportive learning environment Participate in parent conferences, IEP meetings, and other meetings as required Assess individual student progress and identify areas for program modification Maintain accurate records and files for all special education students in accordance with district procedures Essential Qualifications and Skills To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications and skills: Alaska Teaching Certificate - Type A and Bachelor's degree, with an endorsement in Special Education Experience working with students with autism spectrum disorders and other social communicative disabilities Knowledge of ABA techniques and their application in educational settings Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, and other educators Strong organizational and time management skills Ability to maintain accurate records and files Preferred qualifications include experience with trauma-sensitive schools, previous work with students experiencing autism spectrum disorder, and teaching social pragmatic skills.
