About Abbott's Nutrition Division and the Tipp City Facility Abbott's Nutrition Division develops science-based nutrition products for people of all ages, from helping babies and children grow to keeping adult bodies strong and active. The Opportunity: Incoming Material Inspection (IMI) Technician As an Incoming Material Inspection (IMI) Technician at Abbott's Tipp City facility, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality of raw materials and commodities used in the production process. You will be responsible for performing quality inspections and testing to ensure compliance with all applicable standards, and you will have the opportunity to work with a talented team of professionals who are passionate about delivering high-quality products that make a difference in people's lives. Key Responsibilities: Perform quality inspections and testing of raw materials and commodities to ensure compliance with all applicable standards. Sample and test ingredients and packaging materials to ensure they meet quality procedures and specifications. Implement the effectiveness of the quality system, including maintaining commodity lot trace file labels and Kosher schedule A updates. Analyze ingredients and packaging materials, and perform physical evaluations as defined by testing procedures. Monitor schedules and release ingredients and packaging materials, and perform minor troubleshooting of lab equipment with assistance. Recognize and report method procedure problems, out-of-specification conditions, or other anomalies to supervision. Input quality data into quality/inventory computer systems, including MITS, AMAPS, and LIMS. Place commodities on hold, maintain a hold list, and pursue final disposition of commodities on hold through destruction or release. Submit Supplier Event Notifications to Supplier QA and plant Quality Engineers. Interact with inventory planning, materials management receiving areas, and plant Quality Engineers to ensure ingredients and packaging materials are evaluated and released to meet production schedules. Essential Qualifications: High school diploma (or equivalent) required. 1 year of college science (e.g., chemistry) with appropriate labs and 1 year of college math (algebra, geometry, trigonometry, or calculus), or B.S. or B.A. Degree in a science or technical discipline. Ability to complete sensory testing, including taste testing products to evaluate flavor, texture, aroma, etc. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Math, or closely related technical field. Knowledge of applicable regulatory standards and requirements and nutritionals. Skills and Competencies: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Attention to detail and ability to follow procedures. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks. Compensation and Perks: The Incoming Material Inspection (IMI) Technician position starts at $23.00 per hour + a 5% shift differential, with a $3,000 sign-on bonus. The hours for this position are 4:30 pm to 3:00 am, Wednesday through Saturday. Note that training will be completed on 1st shift.
