About the Role As an Instructor of Learning Strategies, you'll play a vital role in supporting students' academic success and helping them achieve their career goals. Key Responsibilities Act as a steward for WGU's mission and strategic vision by demonstrating a commitment to learner-centered, competency-based education. Monitor the course progress of assigned students and provide proactive support at key points in their academic journey. Provide expertise in your content area and maintain current knowledge in your field to inform your teaching practices. Foster student learning through innovative, effective teaching methods that cater to diverse learning needs. Respond promptly to student inquiries and communicate professionally with students and colleagues. Utilize technology-based teaching and communication platforms to support student development and success. Collaborate with other professionals within the university to promote a positive, student-obsessed atmosphere. Participate in required training activities and stay up-to-date with best practices in online education. Essential Qualifications and Skills To succeed in this role, you'll need to possess a unique combination of skills, knowledge, and experience. The ideal candidate will have: A Master's degree in a relevant field (Healthcare, Adult Learning, Health Education, Health and Human Services, or Psychology) from an accredited institution. A minimum of two years of experience providing educational support and instruction. Demonstrated ability to customize instructional support for learners with diverse needs and educational backgrounds. Technological competency, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and virtual instructional platforms. Excellent customer service orientation and strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to use data to inform decision-making and drive student success. Strong understanding of competency-based education and the WGU model. Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable: A Doctorate or terminal degree in a specific content area from an accredited institution. Experience with distance education and supporting distance learning students.
