About the Role

At arenaflex, we're looking for a talented and passionate Senior Data Engineer to help us build and maintain the data infrastructure that powers our industry-leading advertising platform. This is a full-time position available for both night and day shifts, offering the flexibility to work remotely from the comfort of your home.
In this role, you'll be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining data pipelines, datasets, and ETL processes for arenaflex's Sponsored Search Advertising platform. You'll collaborate with various teams across the organization to ensure data quality, accessibility, and reliability for analysis and reporting—empowering sponsors to make data-driven decisions through our self-service platform.

What You'll Bring
We’re seeking a candidate with a strong foundation in data engineering concepts and a proven track record of working with large-scale data systems. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with modern data technologies and a passion for solving complex problems at scale.
Required Qualifications:
- Technical Expertise: Demonstrated aptitude in data engineering concepts, database design, ETL cycles, and data mining techniques. You should be comfortable working with both structured and unstructured data.
- Programming Skills: Proficiency in working with data technologies including SQL, Python, Scala, Hadoop, and related tools and frameworks. Experience with at least one scripting or programming language is essential.
- ETL & Data Integration: Experience with ETL tools such as Apache Airflow (the original job description mentioned "Wind current" which appears to be a typo for Airflow). You should understand data flow patterns and how to move data efficiently between systems.
- Database Experience: Strong skills working with relational databases (such as Azure SQL) and NoSQL databases (for example, Cassandra). You should be able to design efficient database schemas and optimize queries.
- Stream Processing: Experience with real-time text processing using Apache Kafka or similar streaming platforms. Understanding of event-driven architectures is a plus.
- Data Modeling: Experience designing and implementing data models for efficient storage and retrieval. You should understand normalization, denormalization, and when to apply each approach.
- Cloud Platforms: Experience with cloud computing services such as Google GCP (Google Cloud Platform) and Microsoft Azure, as well as distributed storage systems like Hive and Azure Search.
- Containerization: Experience with Docker and Kubernetes for deploying and managing containerized applications at scale.
- Communication Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Professional Attributes: A strong sense of ownership and accountability, self-discipline, and a focus on delivering high-quality work. You should be team-oriented and value design thinking, efficiency, and innovation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with big data frameworks and distributed computing
- Knowledge of machine learning pipelines and MLOps practices

How You'll Make an Impact
As a Senior Data Engineer at arenaflex, your work will be at the heart of our advertising technology infrastructure. Here’s what you’ll be doing:
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and Maintain Robust Data Pipelines: Create and maintain flexible, scalable data pipelines for ingesting, transforming, and storing high-volume data to support advertising on arenaflex.com and its subsidiaries. You'll ensure these pipelines operate reliably 24/7.
- Cloud Platform Development: Work on cloud platforms like Azure and Google Cloud for data storage, processing, and analysis. You'll leverage serverless computing, managed services, and cloud-native architectures to optimize performance and cost.
- Containerized Application Deployment: Design and deploy large-scale, containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes in public clouds like Google GCP and Microsoft Azure. You'll implement CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code practices.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with other scrum teams, QA, Product, Program Management, and Partner Operations while working alongside cross-functional enterprise development teams. You'll be the data expert that bridges technical and business requirements.
- On-Call Support: Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation to investigate production issues across cross-functional teams. You'll be responsible for diagnosing and resolving data pipeline failures, ensuring minimal downtime and data loss.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for improving existing processes, tools, and systems to achieve high scale and productivity. You'll continuously look for ways to raise the technical bar and innovate.
