Work Status: Part-Time (up to 16 hours per week).SALARY EXPECTATION: $21.98 / hourThe Jersey City Free Public Library is looking for a part-time Library Assistant to help staff and patrons in our Tech Services department.Job Duties:Remove withdrawn items from our library catalog.Unpack materials and receive books in our acquisitions system.Process new materials for our library locations.Assist with various projects, such as RFID tagging.Any other duties under the head of Technical Services department.Essential Skills:Ability to compare written and printed material for accuracy.Ability to be detail oriented and manage cataloging system tasks.Ability to read with comprehension.Ability to follow oral and written orders, directions, or plans.Knowledge of general vocabulary, spelling and of standard English grammar.Preferred Skills:Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word and Excel).Knowledge of integrated library systems preferably SIRSI.Preferred Experience:1+ year experience working in a library Technical Services/Cataloging environment.This vacancy is associated with a New Jersey Civil Service job title.
