I’m looking for a detail-oriented editor to review and edit an elementary math workbook that includes word problems, computation practice, models, and short explanations.
This role goes beyond basic proofreading. You will be responsible for checking both:
1. Language accuracy (grammar, spelling, punctuation, clarity)
2. Mathematical accuracy (computations, steps, answer keys, and reasoning)
The ideal candidate has experience working with educational math resources and understands how math content should be presented for students in grades 3–8.
You’ll review:
Student-facing problems
Worked examples and models
Answer keys and explanations
Clearly communicating and documenting any corrections or changes made
The goal is to ensure everything is clear, correct, consistent, and student-friendly.
This will start as a paid test project (one workbook 158 pages). If it’s a good fit, I’ll have ongoing editing work with additional math workbooks.
Ideal Skills & Experience
Strong background in editing and proofreading
Solid understanding of elementary and middle school math concepts (fractions, decimals, operations, word problems, etc.)
Experience editing educational worksheets, workbooks, or curriculum materials
Ability to verify computations, steps, and final answers
Extremely detail-oriented and methodical. Clearly communicating and documenting any corrections or changes made.
Comfortable working in PPT, and have Microsoft PPT on your computer.
Project Scope
Initial test project (4 hours)
Potential for ongoing work if successful
Please answer the screening questions below and include any relevant experience or samples of educational editing work.
1. Describe your experience editing math educational materials or student worksheets.
2. What tools or methods do you use to track, communicate, and document edits (for example, comments, Track Changes, change logs, etc.)?
