Westinghouse is committed to delivering innovative nuclear energy solutions and is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to design mechanical systems and components for both traditional and new nuclear projects. The role involves developing 3D models, conducting tests, and collaborating with global teams to support the advancement of nuclear technology. Responsibilities - Develop 3D models, detailed manufacturing drawings and bills of materials for complex electro-mechanical first of a kind tooling - Assemble and test custom equipment through the design evolution from prototype to finished product - Assist with the development of test procedures for systems to ensure compliance with design specifications - Assist with the operation of the final tooling system in the customer facilities - Perform both classical hand calculations and analysis (including FEA) to qualify systems or components against applicable codes & standards - Prepare concise design reports and technical specifications - Promote innovation and new methods in the development of new technologies and nuclear systems - Collaborate globally within the Westinghouse Engineering framework alongside SMEs and nuclear specialists - Support resolution of issues throughout design, manufacture and testing of systems or components Skills - Degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering from an accredited institution - 0 to 2 minimum years of relevant experience, recent new graduates without experience will be considered - Strong written and verbal communication skills - Strong interpersonal skills, experience working effectively in a team environment - Experience in conceptual design development, design reviews and engineering change control processes - Experience in the design/building of custom equipment typically: steel structures, hoisting/lifting systems, mechanical drive/positioning systems, electro-mechanical systems - Experience in working within 3D CAD systems - Experience with manufacturing techniques, welding procedures or specifications and associated inspection techniques Benefits - Employee Assistance Program: confidential counseling and resources for employees, eligible dependents, and household members - Retirement Savings Plan with Company Match - Paid Vacations, Flextime, Sick/Personal and Holidays - We encourage healthy work-life balance and offer flexible schedules and with the potential to work from anywhere in Canada - We pay 100% of the medical/dental/vision insurance premiums for you and your family - Incredible opportunity for growth in an innovation-driven, global company - Educational Reimbursement Program - Employee Referral and Recognition Program Company Overview - Laveer Engineering provides custom and off the shelf equipment solutions to industry.
