Maximus is seeking a Medical Expert to support Social Security Disability and SSI appeals by serving as a Medical Expert for Administrative Law Judge hearings nationwide. This fully remote role offers flexible, per-case assignments scheduled well in advance, with short and predictable time commitments. The position involves reviewing electronic medical records and providing medical testimony in a non-adversarial, administrative hearing setting.

Responsibilities
• Review electronic medical records prior to hearings
• Answer written interrogatories when assigned
• Provide medical testimony during ALJ hearings
• Cite and explain medical evidence and sources clearly to the ALJ
• Upload written responses through Electronic Records Express (ERE)
Compensation
• Competitive per-case pay with multiple engagement options
• Pay Rates (Per Case – Tier 2): Study & Testimony: $205
• Pay Rates (Per Case – Tier 2): Study & Interrogatories: $165
• Pay Rates (Per Case – Tier 2): Study Only: $95

Shift & Schedule
• Flexible, per-case assignments scheduled well in advance

• Hearings: scheduled ~75 days in advance
• Be available 5 minutes before and up to 45 minutes after hearing time for delays
• Interrogatories due within 15 calendar days
• Hearings typically scheduled about 75 days after case receipt
Requirements
• Ability to review and navigate electronic medical records
• Familiarity with SSA Medical Expert Handbook (training provided)
• Availability to testify if interrogatories are completed
• Completion of required government suitability and background clearance (project-supported)
