Summary:
Accountable for managing all aspects of financial reporting of the organization. Responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. Manage a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year- end audit preparation and the support of financial planning and forecast activities. Accountable to act as a cross functional business partner with oversight to include several significant areas of responsibility. Supervise, mentor and coach a team of staff accountants to ensure the highest level of customer service and work that is properly allocated, completed timely and accurate.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and supervise accounting department personnel; responsible for day-to-day supervision and leadership.
- Review and ensure the preparation of accounting documents are in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and in compliance with company policies and procedures and regulatory agencies.
- Maintain the general ledger and manage the monthly, quarterly and annual closing activities.
- Assist with the interim and year-end audit processes for both internal and external auditing engagements.
- Serves as the subject matter expert including technical expertise and provides education and training to the department, operations, and others.
- Work in partnership to provide support to the financial planning and forecasting activities.
- Ensure all program interfaces and extracts are updated, functional and reconciled timely.
- Assist in development and implementation of new procedures to enhance the workflow of the department.
- Collaborates with other finance department management to support overall department goals and objectives.
- Serves as the direct contact for respective business units Vice Presidents of Finance, department heads and other management/staff personnel.
- Act as a role model in the delivery of services that are deemed to be exceptional in the eyes of the customers.
- Demonstrate professionalism; including strong communication at all levels within the organization.
- Manage various competing priorities, complex tasks and the demands of multiple Vice Presidents of Finance.
- Demonstrate the characteristics of leadership by living the core values and beliefs of the organization.
- Accept ownership and take initiative in assigned duties and ad hoc projects as assigned.
- Performs other duties or responsibilities as assigned by management.
Other Information:
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from a four-year college or university plus 3-5 years related experience in accounting.
- 3-5 years of accounting experience with general ledger system knowledge.
- Preferred Health Care Experience
- Preferred Master’s Degree
- Preferred CPA or CMA
- Preferred Supervisory Experience
