Serve as Assistant Director of a large City of Raleigh Community Center and Park. Plan, organize, and direct the operations and activities at Green Road Community Center by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate employees.

Green Road Community Center
Green Road Community Center was built in 1985 on 29 acres of land in north Raleigh located next door to a Wake County Public Library. The community center has two full gymnasiums, two meeting rooms, a dance studio, kitchenette and fitness room. The park has two baseball fields, four tennis courts, two sand volleyball courts, an outdoor basketball court, picnic shelter, playground and outdoor restrooms. Green Road Community Center staff manage an elementary aged after school program, a teen after school program, multiple summer camps and special events as well as a variety recreation and educational programs for adults through preschoolers.

Central duties and responsibilities for success in these positions include the ability to dynamically engage the community and conduct outreach to multi-layered economic and demographic areas; to program and market for diverse ages and populations; multi-task amid programming, rentals, and events; communicate effectively with patrons; and lead a team of part time staff that are critical to maintaining operations. Patron program and service needs and expectations vary greatly from site to site.

This position works at a community center that is open 7 days a week. Flexibility is required to be available for staff meetings, facility events, and providing coverage to part-time staff.

Duties and Responsibilities
Typical Qualifications

Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Parks and Recreation or directly related field and up to one year of related experience.

OR

An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation.

Preferred Education/Experience
Master's degree and at least 4 years of relevant experience
