We're now seeking a skilled and dependable Night Shift Yard Jockey (CDLA) to join our team in Sylva, North Carolina. As a critical member of our operations team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the efficient movement of trailers and products within our yard. About the Role As a Night Shift Yard Jockey (CDLA) , you will be responsible for operating a Class A hostler truck to move trailers around our yard, load and unload products, and perform trailer and tire inspections to ensure vehicles are safe for transport. You will also be required to deliver loads when necessary and maintain excellent communication with drivers, dispatch, and other yard personnel. Key Responsibilities Operate a Class A hostler truck to move trailers around the yard, load and unload products, and perform trailer and tire inspections. Ensure vehicles are safe for transport and comply with all applicable safety regulations. Deliver loads when necessary and maintain accurate records of shipments. Maintain excellent communication with drivers, dispatch, and other yard personnel to ensure a smooth and efficient loading process. Perform inspections of your vehicle prior to and following each trip, and notify managers of any major maintenance issues. Adhere to company rules and regulations, obey all applicable traffic laws, and drive according to weather/road conditions. Comply with DOT regulations and prioritize safety in all aspects of your work. Requirements and Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following qualifications and skills: Essential Qualifications Valid Class A driver's license required. 1-2 years of proven experience with tractor-trailer driving, preferably in a yard hostler role. Clean driving record with no more than 1 moving violation. Ability to pass a background check and DOT drug and alcohol test. Skilled at driving large vehicles and comfortable maneuvering, parking, and backing a tractor-trailer. Alert, focused, and detail-oriented, with excellent communication skills. Proficient in using GPS and E-log systems. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience as a yard hostler or in a similar role. Familiarity with logistics and transportation operations. Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) and transportation management systems (TMS).
