Position: Fractional Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Hours: 5–10 hours per month

As we continue to grow, we are seeking an experienced Fractional Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to provide strategic financial leadership and oversight. This role is ideal for a seasoned nonprofit finance professional who enjoys supporting executive leadership and boards through high-level financial guidance.
Position Summary
The Fractional CFO will serve as a strategic financial advisor to the Executive Director and leadership team, providing executive-level financial reporting, budget oversight, forecasting, and financial planning. This position focuses on high-level financial management rather than day-to-day bookkeeping or accounting.
The anticipated commitment is approximately 5–10 hours per month.
Key Responsibilities
• Review monthly financial statements, dashboards, and key financial metrics
• Prepare and present quarterly, executive-level financial reports and analysis for leadership and the Board of Directors
• Provide oversight of organizational budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning
• Monitor cash flow, reserves, and overall financial health
• Advise leadership on financial strategy, sustainability, and organizational growth
• Ensure appropriate financial controls, policies, and oversight are maintained
• Collaborate with the Executive Director, finance staff, bookkeeper, and external CPA or auditors
• Support annual budgeting and year-end financial planning
• Identify financial risks and recommend practical solutions
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred)
• Minimum of 10 years of senior financial leadership experience
• Previous experience as a CFO, Controller, Finance Director, or Fractional CFO
• Demonstrated experience working with nonprofit organizations
• Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles, budgeting, grant funding, and financial reporting
• Experience presenting financial information to executive leadership and Boards of Directors
• Excellent analytical, communication, and strategic planning skills
• Ability to work independently while serving as a trusted advisor
Preferred Experience
• Experience with nonprofit audits and Form 990 preparation
• Familiarity with restricted and unrestricted funds and fund accounting
• Experience supporting organizations with annual budgets of $2 to $3 million
Compensation
Competitive monthly retainer commensurate with experience, qualifications, and scope of services.
