Position Summary: Responsible for processing bi-weekly payroll ensuring timely payment to employees, performing audits of employee timesheets, payroll deductions and preparing necessary adjustments. Responsible for answering paycheck and payment calculation questions. Understands and adheres to federal and state laws regarding payroll and the calculation of hours. Essential Functions and Responsibilities: 1.Develops and maintains understanding of the payroll polices and processes of each assigned subsidiary Payroll department by maintaining interaction with the subsidiary Human Resources department personnel and reviewing company policies and procedures. 2.Processes payroll bi-weekly ensuring that all deadlines are met; reviews system edits before and after processing; assures that payment and pay practices being applied comply with Department of Labor regulations, organizational pay practices and standard operating procedures. 3.Resolves problems associated with payroll processes by asking questions and researching information through interactions with employees, managers, and Human Resources 4.Performs payroll processing functions including verification of input made by timekeepers for hours worked, pay code entries, shift premium calculations, inter-departmental transfer of hours and paid time off payments. 5.Train's timekeepers and processes earnings that are entered through the time and attendance system. 6.Participates in continuous improvement activities as directed, through the identification of quality improvement opportunities, goal setting, collection and evaluation of data, implementation of action plans, or related applications. 7.Assists with Union contract changes as it relates to Payroll Processing 8.Responsible for testing as it relates to additions or changes in employee timekeeping system. 9.Works with Human Resources on Payroll submissions and corrections 10.Processes retroactive wage increases received Qualifications: Required: • High school diploma or equivalent. • Two years of payroll experience. • Two years of general clerical experience working with a computer system. Preferred: • Associate degree in finance or accounting. • One year experience working on computerized payroll system. • One year experience working with Kronos time and attendance.
