IngramSpark is seeking a meticulous and skilled Proofreader and Editor to join our dynamic team. This role is crucial in ensuring that all published materials meet the highest standards of quality and accuracy. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in editing and proofreading, with a keen understanding of the publishing industry and a passion for helping authors present their best work. Key Responsibilities • Review and edit manuscripts for grammar, punctuation, spelling, and style consistency. • Ensure clarity, coherence, and flow in all written content, including marketing materials, guides, and author communications. • Verify the accuracy of technical terms and industry-specific language within manuscripts. • Collaborate with authors and the editorial team to provide constructive feedback and suggestions for improvement. • Maintain a consistent editorial style in line with IngramSpark’s guidelines and best practices. • Assist in the development of editorial resources and tools to support authors in the publishing process. Qualifications • Proven experience in proofreading and editing, preferably in the publishing industry. • Strong understanding of grammar, punctuation, and style guides (e.g., Chicago Manual of Style). • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently under tight deadlines. • Familiarity with the self-publishing landscape and the needs of independent authors is a plus. Work Schedule • This is a part-time position with flexible hours, requiring approximately 15-20 hours per week. • Remote work is available, but candidates must be able to meet deadlines consistently.
