Position Summary: Accepting applications for the 2025-2026 school year. This is a Term of Project position. Working remotely, the Reading Tutor will support students and staff by providing reading intervention services. Our tutoring solution complements school reading intervention programs and integrates with their Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) model. Tutors will work with small groups of elementary students in a synchronous virtual classroom utilized by Connections Education schools. The tutor will focus on developing students' reading skills and fostering a positive attitude towards reading. Tutors are assigned 4 groups of 4 students, meeting three times a week for thirty minutes over thirty weeks. Tutors will be responsible for monitoring and engaging student activity within the virtual classroom, providing support and feedback, and logging student contacts. Tutors will use iXL resources and LiveLesson to deliver services. This part-time position is active for the 2025-2026 school year. Tutors typically work 9-10 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Tutors report to a supervisor. After hiring, tutors receive intensive literacy training developed in-house before placement with students. The pay rate is between $18-$25 per hour. Responsibilities: • Engage small groups of elementary students in virtual reading intervention sessions within a synchronous virtual classroom. • Support students' development of reading skills and a positive attitude towards reading. • Monitor activity within the virtual classroom at all times during sessions. • Communicate with students through the use of LiveLesson, using Zoom Class. • Ensure necessary documentation is completed and adheres to Connections Education requirements and standards for all students. • Other duties as assigned. Requirements: • Positive attitude towards literacy development. • Knowledge of reading skills, concepts, and subject area. • BA in education or a related discipline is preferred. • State teaching certification, with an endorsement in Reading is preferred. • Experience with online instruction is a plus. • Prior experience as a tutor or educator is a plus. • Strong technology skills (especially with Microsoft OS and MS Office). • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. • Customer-focused approach. • High degree of flexibility. • Availability Monday-Friday between the hours of 8-4 eastern, specified hours TBD. • Demonstrated ability to work well in a fast-paced environment. • Team player track record. • Computer, headphones, microphone, and high-speed internet access. • Must be able to use a personal electronic device and an email address for two-step authentication Equal Opportunity Employer This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
