Mill is all about answering a simple question: how can we prevent waste? Less waste can save time, money, energy, maybe even our planet. And there’s no better place to start than food. Food waste is one of the most solvable climate problems facing us today. Plus, our trash really stinks. It’s gross, heavy, and our least favorite chore. At Mill we are striving to build a better environment for all, as we take on climate and kitchen change. About the Role We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Refurbishment Line Operator to join our team in San Bruno, CA. In this role, you will help restore Mill Kitchen Bins so they can be returned to service in our device fleet. You will work on a structured refurbishment line, collaborating with teammates to process returns, complete repairs, and ensure high-quality refurbished devices are delivered on time. What You’ll Do Operate refurbishment line stations, including unpacking, triage, cleaning, repair, and testing. Accurately document all steps of the process, including device condition, serial numbers, part usage, and repair actions. Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency, quality, and safety. Use hand and power tools to complete mechanical and light electrical work. Support equipment setup, materials inventory, and general line upkeep. Communicate effectively with team members and share updates, raise issues, and suggest improvements. What You’ll Need Prior experience working in a factory, assembly, or production line environment (preferred). Comfort with hand and power tools such as drivers, wrenches, and multimeters. Ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain accuracy in documentation. Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Willingness to lift and move items weighing up to 70 lbs. The estimated base salary range for this position is $75k to $90k, which does not include the value of benefits or a potential equity grant. A wide range of factors are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets, market conditions, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and business and organizational needs. At Mill, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role.
