Magnificent Differences Consulting, LLC is seeking an Accounting Manager to support the financial health and operational effectiveness of UTR Group. The role involves overseeing daily accounting operations, leading the financial close process, and providing financial recommendations to leadership while ensuring compliance with accounting standards.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, and general ledger activities
- Lead the monthly financial close process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting
- Review account reconciliations, journal entries, and support schedules for accuracy and completeness
- Prepare and analyze financial reports, identifying variances, trends, and areas requiring management attention
- Maintain fixed asset records and oversee depreciation activities
- Support annual audits and preparation of required financial documentation
- Review payroll and retirement funding activities for accuracy and compliance and maintain current knowledge of related procedures to serve as a backup resource when necessary
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and organizational policies
- Partner with department leaders to review budget performance and financial results
- Assist with budget preparation, forecasting, and financial planning activities
- Provide financial recommendations to support operational and strategic decision-making
- Identify and implement process improvements that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability
- Supervise, coach, and develop accounting team members
- Establish performance expectations and provide ongoing feedback and training
- Conduct performance evaluations and support employee development planning
- Participate in recruiting, onboarding, and training new accounting staff
- Ensure appropriate cross-training and continuity of operations across accounting functions
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field or equivalent experience required
- Minimum of seven years of progressive accounting experience, including financial reporting, account reconciliations, budgeting, and month-end close activities required
- Minimum of three years of supervisory experience leading accounting, finance, or related staff required
- Must be able to work a hybrid schedule in accordance with organizational and departmental expectations
- Must maintain a work environment that supports productivity, confidentiality, and professional communication when working remotely
- Must have access to reliable internet service sufficient to perform remote work responsibilities
- Must be available to attend in-person meetings, trainings, audits, and other business activities as required
- Demonstrates a strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, budgeting, reconciliations, and internal controls
- Evaluates financial data, identifies trends, and develops recommendations to support sound business decisions
- Produces accurate work, identifies discrepancies, and maintains the integrity of financial records
- Effectively manages multiple priorities, deadlines, and competing demands
- Communicates financial information clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing
- Provides direction, coaching, accountability, and support to team members while leading by example
- Prepares, analyzes, and presents financial information, reports, and recommendations in a clear and meaningful manner for leadership, committees, and Board-level audiences
- Identifies issues, evaluates options, and implements practical solutions
- Builds productive working relationships with employees, leaders, vendors, and external stakeholders
- Demonstrates proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, and accounting software systems
- Identifies financial, operational, compliance, and internal control risks and takes appropriate action to mitigate potential issues
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), or other relevant accounting or finance certification preferred
