Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Outreach is a Christian community service organization providing various services for individuals and families. They are seeking a full-time Accounting Manager to lead daily accounting operations, oversee financial reporting, and ensure compliance with accounting principles.
Responsibilities
- Lead the daily accounting operations for Outreach Community Ministries and affiliated entities
- Oversee the monthly and annual financial close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting
- Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and review journal entries, reconciliations, fixed assets, accruals, and supporting documentation
- Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), organizational policies, and internal accounting controls
- Prepare and review monthly financial statements, management reports, and financial analyses to support organizational decision-making
- Assist the CFO with budgeting, financial forecasting, cash flow management, and strategic financial initiatives
- Coordinate the annual external audit, prepare audit schedules, and serve as the primary liaison with auditors under the direction of the CFO
- Oversee compliance with nonprofit financial regulations, tax filings, grant reporting, and restricted fund accounting
- Supervise, coach, mentor, and develop accounting staff while fostering a collaborative, high-performing Finance team
- Oversee Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, payroll accounting, banking activities, and cash management processes
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
- Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience required
- Demonstrated experience with financial reporting, budgeting, audits, internal controls, payroll accounting, and GAAP
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required
- Strong leadership, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present financial information to both finance and non-finance leaders
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- A demonstrated commitment to the mission and values of Outreach Community Ministries
- CPA designation or active CPA candidate strongly preferred
- Public accounting experience preferred
- Previous supervisory or team leadership experience preferred
- Nonprofit accounting experience strongly preferred
- Experience with nonprofit accounting software preferred
