Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. First Gen Financial is a fast-growing, purpose-driven B2B financial services company. They are seeking a Business Engineer who will design and build low-code and AI-powered solutions to solve business problems while shaping the product roadmap.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and ship internal tools and customer-facing features using low-code/no-code platforms alongside traditional development
- Apply AI and automation to streamline workflows, reduce manual work, and unlock new business capabilities across operations, customer success, finance, and distribution
- Partner with leadership and cross-functional teams to translate business goals into buildable solutions and help shape the product roadmap
- Own solutions end-to-end — from scoping and technical design through build, launch, and iteration — without needing a project manager to hold the pieces together
- Work directly with large, complex datasets to model data, optimize performance, and ensure solutions scale as we grow
- Translate ambiguous business needs into clear technical requirements and working prototypes, quickly
- Identify opportunities where technology can create business leverage and proactively pitch and build the solution
- Move fast: ship, learn, and iterate in a high-velocity, high-ownership environment
Skills
- Demonstrated experience as a developer with a track record of shipping real products or tools — not just contributing to them
- Genuine business acumen — you understand how decisions, metrics, and strategy connect to what gets built and why
- Hands-on experience with low-code/no-code platforms (Retool, Bubble, Airtable, Power Platform, or similar)
- Practical experience building with and integrating AI tools and models into products or workflows
- Strong problem-solving instincts and comfort operating with ambiguity and shifting priorities
- Excellent communication skills — you can work directly with non-technical stakeholders and translate between business and technical language without losing either audience
- A builder's mindset: bias toward action, comfort with fast iteration, and full ownership over outcomes
- Deep expertise with large-scale database design, optimization, and management
- Experience contributing to or owning a product roadmap
- Background in insurance, healthcare, or benefits administration — familiarity with enrollment, payroll, and billing data is a meaningful plus
- Startup or high-growth environment experience
