Key Responsibilities
- Policy Development & Strategy: Lead the end‑to‑end lifecycle of privacy and human‑rights policies, from research and drafting to stakeholder review, approval, and rollout.
- Regulatory Monitoring: Continuously track global privacy and data‑protection legislation, emerging human‑rights standards, and industry best practices; translate findings into actionable recommendations.
- Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Partner with Product, Engineering, Legal, Communications, Trust & Safety, and Customer Experience teams to embed privacy‑by‑design and rights‑by‑design principles into new features and existing services.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build and nurture relationships with external NGOs, civil‑society groups, regulators, and academic experts to ensure policies are inclusive, transparent, and aligned with societal expectations.
- Community Education & Advocacy: Develop clear, multilingual guidance, training modules, and communication campaigns that empower hosts and guests to understand their rights and responsibilities.
- Incident Response & Risk Management: Serve as a subject‑matter expert during privacy incidents, data‑breach investigations, and human‑rights audits, providing strategic counsel and remediation plans.
- Metrics & Reporting: Define key performance indicators (KPIs) for policy effectiveness, generate regular impact reports, and present insights to senior leadership.
- Thought Leadership: Publish whitepapers, blog posts, and conference presentations that position the company as an industry leader in ethical data stewardship and human‑rights advocacy.
Essential Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Law, Public Policy, International Relations, Human Rights, Computer Science, or a related discipline. Advanced degrees (LLM, MPH, MPA) are a distinct advantage.
- Professional Experience: Minimum of 5 years of hands‑on experience developing and implementing privacy, data‑protection, or human‑rights policies in a global‑scale technology or platform environment.
- Regulatory Acumen: Demonstrated deep knowledge of major privacy regimes (GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, LGPD, PIPL, etc.) and familiarity with UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.
- Stakeholder Management: Proven ability to work collaboratively with internal teams across functions and external partners, including NGOs, regulators, and advocacy coalitions.
