The University of Pennsylvania, a prestigious Ivy League institution, is seeking a Director for the Executive Doctorate in Higher Education Management program. The Director will oversee program operations, including student recruitment, faculty support, and budget management, ensuring the program's quality and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Provide oversight of and accountability for all operational aspects of the program; Manage all program operations including: overseeing the program’s annual budget; develop and execute student recruitment strategy in partnership with GSE Admissions including school-wide recruitment efforts; collaborate with faculty admissions committee and GSE admissions in making all admissions decisions; implementing continuous improvement strategies to ensure the continued quality and rigor of the program and all program faculty, in partnership with the Vice Dean of Executive Programs and GSE leadership; managing all program staff; sustaining a culture of high performance and continual growth; expanding the program’s alumni network and develop alumni communications, programs and opportunities, in partnership with Development and Alumni Relations; and occasional recruitment related and curricular travel
- Develop, manage, and continuously improve the program’s curriculum and its delivery in close collaboration with the program’s faculty. Convene regular program faculty meetings and committees. Maintain and enhance academic standards, including dissertation work, instructional quality, content standards, cross-module integration, etc. Teach at least one course in the program
- Oversee student progress and completion. Manage and improve internal data and reporting systems for regular monitoring of student progress. Work with GSE administration regarding application of GSE policies. Serve as advisor to all first-year students in the program and address all student concerns
- Recruit, support, evaluate, and manage all faculty involved in the program including instructors and guest lecturers; ensuring alignment with program and evolving needs of the field. Oversee and support the professional growth and success of program staff. Address personnel issues with the support of Human Resources staff
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Skills
- A Doctoral Degree and 5-10 years of relevant experience
- Knowledge of higher education as a field of study and research necessary to teach and chair dissertations
- Knowledge of adult learners, cohort-based learning, and/or accelerated education programs
- Extensive higher education leadership experience preferred
- Basic familiarity with CRM, LMS, and CMS software (e.g. Slate, Canvas)
