Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Mechanical Engineer specializing in Water/Wastewater Treatment Facilities. The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for HVAC design, plumbing design, and mechanical equipment selection for projects across the United States.
Responsibilities
- Perform mechanical design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion
- Develop mechanical design concepts for HVAC and Plumbing
- Contribute Basis of Design Reports for Water and Wastewater infrastructure projects
- Design mechanical components for project needs and requirements that are set forth by the project managers
- Apply strong knowledge of commonly used mechanical engineering/design concepts, principles, practices, codes, and procedures within the mechanical engineering services industry
- Research and compile project related data as required by the project managers
- Provide updates to project managers on design progress
- Collaborate with mechanical team and mentor junior engineers
- Direct designers and CAD technicians for drawing markups
- Compile information for client presentations
- Perform field inspections, measurements or calculations for public and private clients
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Comply with all policies and standards
Skills
- Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program and 3 years of mechanical engineering experience
- Bachelor Degree in Mechanical or related Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and 3 years of mechanical engineering experience
- Master Degree in Mechanical Engineering and 2 years of mechanical engineering experience
- Strong knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills
- Proficient in standard engineering techniques and procedures
- Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite)
- Strong computer skills include AutoCAD, BIM (Revit), 3D Rendering Programs, hydraulic analysis, and HVAC analysis programs
- Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills
- Consulting experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
