[Remote] PDM Implementation Data Architect

The Implementation Data Architect is a senior, client-facing technical leader responsible for designing, mapping, and implementing complex data architectures that support enterprise-scale client onboarding and information exchange. Responsibilities • Lead the design and implementation of end-to-end data architectures supporting complex client implementations • Develop and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models across multiple systems and platforms • Architect and document source-to-target mappings, transformation logic, and data lineage across heterogeneous data models • Ensure data solutions align with scalability, performance, security, and governance best practices • Serve as the primary data architecture lead during client onboarding and implementation engagements • Facilitate client workshops, discovery sessions, and data mapping reviews • Present architecture designs, data flows, and implementation strategies to technical and non-technical client audiences • Act as a trusted technical advisor, clearly articulating design options, trade-offs, and recommendations • Design and implement cloud-native data solutions on Amazon Web Services (AWS) • Leverage AWS services such as S3, EMR, Glue, Athena, Redshift, EC2, Lambda, and related components to build scalable data pipelines • Ensure adherence to AWS Well-Architected Framework principles, including security, reliability, and cost optimization • Support production data platforms with monitoring, performance tuning, and operational best practices • Partner with engineering teams to support big data processing using Spark, Spark SQL, and Scala or PySpark • Utilize Jupyter Notebooks for data analysis, validation, and prototyping • Contribute to AI/ML-enabled data initiatives, including data preparation, feature engineering, and integration of AI outputs into downstream systems • Ensure data quality, validation, reconciliation, and governance standards are met • Work with structured and semi-structured data formats including XML, JSON, Parquet, Avro, and custom flat files • Apply healthcare data standards (e.g., FHIR, HL7 where applicable) and best practices for provider data management • Ensure systems and processes comply with HIPAA and healthcare data privacy regulations • Collaborate with stakeholders to define and enforce data governance and security controls • Translate business, functional, and technical requirements into clear and actionable architectural designs • Support Agile delivery processes using Jira and Confluence • Manage multiple complex client implementations in parallel while maintaining quality and delivery timelines • Mentor and guide implementation analysts, data engineers, and junior architects Skills • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent professional experience • 8+ years of experience in technology, data architecture, information exchange, and/or the healthcare domain • 5+ years of experience leading or architecting complex client implementations and data onboarding initiatives • 3+ years of experience in a senior data architecture or lead data engineering role • Proven experience working directly with external clients in a consultative, client-facing capacity • Expert knowledge of data modeling and cross-model data mapping • Strong proficiency in SQL and enterprise databases (Oracle, MySQL, Aurora, Redshift, or equivalent) • Extensive hands-on experience with AWS cloud services and data platforms • Experience with big data and analytics technologies (Spark, Spark SQL, Scala or PySpark) • Experience with RESTful APIs and API integration tools such as Postman • Proficiency with Microsoft Office / Office 365 tools • Exceptional presentation and communication skills, both written and verbal • Ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills • Self-starter with the ability to work independently in fast-paced, ambiguous environments • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously • Collaborative mindset with a positive, solution-oriented approach • AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect, AWS Data Analytics) • Experience with AI/ML platforms and services (e.g., SageMaker or equivalent) • Familiarity with healthcare interoperability standards such as FHIR and HL7 • Prior experience in highly regulated environments Benefits • Competitive salary • Bonus structure • Generous HSA company contribution • Healthcare • Vision • Dental benefits • 401k match program • Unlimited PTO for salaried associates + 9 paid holidays • Reimburse up to $250/year for gym memberships, participation in racing events, weight management programs, etc. • Education reimbursement • Paid Parental Leave for both moms and dads, both birth parents and adoptive parents Company Overview • Availity offers a free access to real-time information and instant responses for healthcare professionals.
