Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Brillient Corporation is seeking a Science Disclosure Analyst to join its team supporting a federal contract. Their primary role is to analyze scientific data and findings, and prepare reports and presentations that communicate their conclusions and recommendations to stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Applying appropriate FOIA exemptions to non-disclosable information within responsive documents
- Preparing records for release, including the redaction of materials to be withheld, and duplicating materials, as necessary
- Performs other related duties as assigned
- Disclosure Review
- Redaction of Records
- Communication and Reporting, to include, but not limited to keeping division management informed of the nature of all sensitive requests
- Providing weekly progress reports
- Redact records in accordance with FOIA, the OPEN Government Act, the E-Gov Act, and applicable job aids and guidance from OC staff
- Apply exemptions appropriately to ensure information exempt under statutes is withheld
- Utilize Adobe Acrobat Pro (or other approved software) to electronically redact and prepare records, including boxing exempt material, sanitization, and Bates numbering if applicable
- Prepare documents and Vaughn indices for disclosure-based litigation, as required
- Ensure released materials do not contain exempt information
- Draft original correspondence for release on behalf of the agency
- Communicate with requesters, regulated industry, sponsors, staff, contractors, and other stakeholders to clarify requests and provide updates
- Serve as liaison with requesters and, on occasion, other agencies or appellants
- Ensure disclosure analysis is accurate, timely, and compliant with FOIA, the Privacy Act, and applicable regulations
- Stay up to date on statutory and regulatory changes to maintain compliance
- Ensure released materials do not contain information exempt under applicable statutes
- Meet agency performance standards, including review rates and timeliness metrics
- Maintain accurate data entry in FOIA tracking databases
- Monitor request backlogs and prioritize processing of sensitive or time-critical cases
- Prepare indexes of produced documents, including withheld portions and exemption codes
- Support reporting requirements for leadership and oversight staff
Skills
- Bachelors' Degree in Biological and Health Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Immunology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Laboratory Science/Technology, Nursing Pharmacology, etc.) or related field
- Minimum three (3) years' experience performing related duties
- Ability to apply standards, regulations, and or statutes
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, and Excel)
- Proficient in Adobe 10
- Experience with proactive disclosure
- Familiarity with drug approval process
- FOIA experience
- Excellent organizational skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently
- This position requires U.S. Citizenship or a Green Card holder and the ability to obtain and maintain a Government public trust level security clearance

- Bench science in a scientific research laboratory
