Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. New York Sports Club is a long-standing, dynamic fitness club brand with locations in the Northeast. They are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to join their corporate accounting team, responsible for accurate financial reporting, compliance with GAAP, and supporting club-level and corporate operations.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close process
- Prepare and record journal entries including accruals, amortizations and allocations using Oracle NetSuite Financials
- Analyze and reconcile accounts related to general & administrative, direct, and indirect expenses
- Maintain debt schedules, interest calculations, and record debt-related journal entries for short and long-term debt
- Manage financed equipment schedules and related journal entries for short and long-term debt reporting
- Prepare and file sales and use taxes for each legal entity and provide support for related audits
- Analyze utilities spend and calculate monthly expense accruals due to seasonality
- Prepare account schedules and support balance sheet reconciliations to ensure compliance with GAAP
- Record cash activity and reconcile bank accounts
- Collaborate with marketing and operations teams to ensure accurate expense reporting
- Partner with respective departments to address club Profit & Loss statement questions from field management
- Support corporate partner revenue accounting, including reconciliations, invoicing, and collections follow-up
- Support annual audit, interim testing, and provide necessary schedules to external auditors
- Assist with special projects and ad hoc financial analysis as needed
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in accounting is required
- 5+ years progressive accounting experience, preferably in a multi-location service-based industry
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and month-end close accounting experience
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Experience with NetSuite Financial systems (or similar ERP) strongly preferred
