The role involves collaborating with stakeholders to gather requirements, improve processes, and ensure that solutions align with business objectives.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand business objectives, operational challenges, and system improvement opportunities
- Conduct stakeholder interviews, workshops, Joint Application Development (JAD) sessions, surveys, document analysis, workflow analysis, and use case analysis
- Analyze existing business processes, identify inefficiencies, and recommend automation and process improvements
- Document current-state and future-state business processes
- Identify functional and non-functional requirements
- Produce clear, concise, and well-structured:
- Business Requirements Documents (BRDs)
- Functional Requirements Documents (FRDs)
- Software Requirements Specifications (SRS)
- User Stories
- Use Cases
- Acceptance Criteria
- Business Rules
- Process Flows
- Gap Analysis Documents
- Ensure all documentation aligns with established business analysis standards and best practices
- Maintain complete traceability of requirements throughout the project lifecycle
- Evaluate current business workflows and identify opportunities for optimization
- Recommend business process re-engineering initiatives
- Create workflow diagrams, process maps, and system interaction diagrams
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across business operations
- Design wireframes, screen mockups, prototypes, and interface concepts
- Collaborate with UX/UI designers and development teams to ensure user-centered solutions
- Validate solution designs with stakeholders prior to implementation
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including:
- Sprint Planning
- Daily Stand-ups
- Sprint Reviews
- Sprint Retrospectives
- Backlog Grooming
- Collaborate closely with Product Owners and Scrum Masters
- Support both Agile and traditional SDLC methodologies where applicable
- Assist development and QA teams with requirements clarification throughout the project lifecycle
- Manage changing business requirements through formal change control processes
- Prioritize requirements with stakeholders
- Maintain requirement traceability matrices
- Validate completed functionality against documented requirements
- Assist QA teams during test planning and execution
- Develop and review User Acceptance Testing (UAT) scenarios
- Participate in defect triage and issue resolution
- Validate that implemented solutions satisfy business needs
- Facilitate meetings across technical and business teams
- Present findings and recommendations to leadership
- Communicate project risks, dependencies, assumptions, and impacts
- Build strong relationships across cross-functional teams
- Mentor junior Business Analysts
- Promote business analysis standards and best practices
- Share knowledge, templates, and process improvements across teams
- Participate in continuous professional development
- Maintain project documentation repositories
- Ensure compliance with organizational documentation standards
- Support audit and governance activities as required
Skills
- Minimum 8 years of experience gathering business requirements through stakeholder interviews and workshops
- Minimum 8 years of experience working across the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
- Minimum 8 years of experience in business process analysis and business process re-engineering
- Minimum 8 years of experience writing: User Stories, Use Cases, Functional Requirements, Business Requirements
- Minimum 8 years of experience designing wireframes, mockups, and UX documentation
- Minimum 5 years demonstrating excellent communication, facilitation, and presentation skills
- Minimum 5 years creating professional technical documentation
- Minimum 1 year of experience using Atlassian Jira for issue tracking and Agile project management
- Minimum 1 year of experience using requirements management tools such as Modern Requirements or similar platforms
- Minimum 1 year of experience supporting education-sector organizations, government agencies, public-sector organizations, or education technology vendors
