The position involves data extraction, analysis, and reporting within the property and casualty insurance sector, ensuring data quality and compliance with reporting requirements.
Responsibilities
- Perform basic data extractions using organizational data files and write specifications to the Strategic Analytics Department to obtain data
- Gather documents for market conduct exams from policy and imaging systems and external websites
- Gather and submit data reports for National Council on Compensation Insurance (NCCI) and independent states
- Review and analyze basic data requests involving premium, loss, and accounting data
- Determine the most suitable way to submit data based on requests
- Verify data using tools such as Excel and SQL
- Perform audits to ensure data quality and document discrepancies
- Reconcile statistical data to financial data and investigate discrepancies
- Analyze and correct errors and explain data irregularities to insurance reporting bureaus or states
- Communicate with corporate teams and branches regarding procedures, corrections, and training
- Request system changes as needed
- Contact bureaus like NCCI or Insurance Service Office (ISO) and states for report-related inquiries with guidance
- Partner with outside vendors to answer questions and resolve issues
- Monitor state websites for industry changes, new reporting requirements, and deadlines
- Maintain documentation of data requests and logs of data submissions; monitor systems to ensure submission guidelines are met
- Provide backup support by reviewing and entering payments in the accounts payable system and Workday
Skills
- Associate degree in math, finance, accounting, business, or related field or equivalent relevant experience
- One year of experience in property and casualty insurance
- Bachelor's degree may substitute for insurance experience requirement
- Proficiency in Excel functions and formulas
- Basic SQL skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Basic analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Data reporting experience preferred
- Basic knowledge of insurance terminology preferred
