Job Summary: This individual is employed by the University and reports directly to the Simulation Center Director. The Clinical Simulation Educator plays a vital role in supporting the development, implementation and facilitation of simulation-based learning experiences. The responsibilities of the Clinical Simulation Educator encompasses a range of tasks including:

Serve as a communication link in conjunction with the Simulation Center Director between the SON, College, University, and other external constituents including but not limited to employers, alumni, donors, clinical partners, and professional associations.

- Collaborating with the simulation lab team to create engaging and immersive simulation experiences.
- Facilitating simulation sessions that offer an inclusive and effective learning environment.
- Conducting comprehensive debriefing sessions to help students reflect on their performance and gain valuable insights.
- Evaluating student performance to assess their progress and provide constructive feedback.
- Participating in training and mentoring faculty on evidence-based and current practices for simulation.
Essential Functions
- Assists faculty in the development of simulation experiences for the teaching and formative assessment of learners.
- Assists in the integration of simulation educational activities into SON- and discipline-specific curricula.
- Collaboratively programs cases/scenarios to be used for high fidelity simulation and tests them to ensure performance meets educational needs and goals.
- Collaborates with the simulation team to facilitate simulated learning experiences using the appropriate resources and equipment.
- Assists with teaching and debriefing of simulation sessions.
- Identifies opportunities for improvement, innovation and development of initiatives for the integration of simulation in clinical education and curriculum.
- Creates and delivers presentations regarding all aspects of simulation as requested by the Simulation Center Director.
- Maintains knowledge of use, operation, and programming of different simulator technologies ranging from anatomic models, task trainers, and high fidelity mannequins.
- Facilitates training sessions for faculty and staff as requested by the Simulation Center Director.
- Supports and promotes simulation use across campus.
- Provides demonstrations to prospective student groups and visitors.
- Participates in the revision/development of cases to be used in simulation settings.
- Assists in the quality assurance of all evaluation tools and exam write-ups.
- Assists in the administration of the high stakes simulations.
- Participates in professional activity and engagement to maintain currency; or simulation related educational research, analyzes data, and writes for publications.
- Represents the University in outside meetings and presentations as requested.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Skills
- Master's degree in Nursing and minimum of 5 years of clinical patient experience required
- Terminal degree (PhD, DNP, DNSc) preferred
- A demonstrated track record of success in simulation education
- 2 years of direct job-related experience such as experience in program coordination, simulation development, virtual simulation scenario development, and interprofessional simulation practice experience.
- Preferred Certi'cation/Licensing: Certi'ed Health Simulation Educator (CHSE)
- Creative problem solver
- Strong and effective communicator
- Ability to motivate and build consensus among faculty
- Ability to effectively collaborate with the Simulation Center Director, Simulation Team, SON Chair, Dean, and Operations Team to strengthen, coordinate, integrate, and implement the goals established by the program and CNBHS
