About Cahira Technologies:
Cahira Technologies Inc is an MIT spinoff company, and we have built the world’s first autonomous and non-surgical electronic implant to create seamless brain computer symbiosis for treating intractable neural diseases and for human augmentation.
Problem
Human potential is constrained by diseases and limitations posed by biology.
According to the World Health Organization, over 3 billion people suffer from different neural disorders. Drugs are mostly ineffective, and typical implants are limited to only about 1% of patients, due to surgery costs and risks. Thus, patients worldwide suffering from devastating neurological conditions face an impossible choice: undergo risky brain surgery or continue living with debilitating symptoms that drugs cannot fix.
Beyond diseases, biological restrictions such as our limited number of neurons and the way these neurons process information, constrain human capabilities.
Our Solution
World’s first autonomous, non-surgical electronic brain implants. Our technology is already proven in clinical animal studies.
Our nanoelectronic devices are introduced into the body without surgery and they travel through body fluids and autonomously recognize the target region in the brain. This is the first demonstration of electronics that cross the intact blood brain barrier and self-implant, reaching regions, even those inaccessible to other technologies.
Our nanoelectronic devices co-live and co-exist with the brain cells, seamlessly integrating with the brain, enabling brain-computer symbiosis beyond conventional brain-computer interfaces. Such symbiosis fuses into biology the capabilities of electronics which powered by decades of Moore’s law scaling, CMOS manufacturability and enhanced by AI, enables tremendous computing prowess, speed and versatility.
Such brain computer symbiosis creates unique and unprecedented opportunities for treating diseases as well as enhancing humans through precise modulation/enhancement of brain signals, drastically increasing neural density with synthetic electronic neurons which can communicate with each other and with the biological neurons for an augmented brain.
Impact
While current brain implants require invasive surgery and are limited to about 1% of the patients, our technology completely defies the need for surgery, eliminating surgery related costs & risks. By eliminating surgery, we are making our life-changing treatment accessible to all, removing barriers of age, health status, and cost that currently prevent millions from receiving treatment.
Beyond treating diseases, with our unique brain-computer symbiosis, we envision transcending humans beyond biological limitations.
