Job Summary
We're seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Scientist to lead the improvement and development of mathematical and statistical principles and techniques to create long-term forecasting algorithms that solve business problems in retail. The ideal candidate will have a deep expertise in decision technology methodologies and a passion for transforming retail operations by automating manual processes and decision-making through mathematical and statistical models.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and implementation of advanced forecasting algorithms and automation solutions using machine learning and statistical modeling
- Collect, organize, analyze, interpret, and summarize large amounts of time-series data to generate key insights leading to new innovative applications
- Analyze complex and rich data, define business problems, develop problem statements, and outline metrics to drive feasibility studies
- Perform data exploration tasks, extract insights, and create storyboards from data analysis
- Present clear and accurate root-cause analysis to data scientists and leadership
- Build training workflows for machine learning algorithms on large datasets and create algorithmic solutions, including data engineering, feature engineering, model development, validation, and deployment
- Lead and develop large-scale implementations of machine learning models and algorithmic solutions using rich retail data sources
- Review model performance and identify areas for improvement to enhance models
- Collaborate with global AI teams, scientists, engineers, and business partners to identify and lead new opportunities
Requirements
Education:
At least a Master's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related quantitative field. Alternatively, a Doctorate (PhD) degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related quantitative field will be considered.
Experience:
At least 7 years of experience as a data or machine learning scientist, which includes:
- Performing advanced machine learning activities (regression, clustering, and forecasting)
- Driving the development and implementation of analytical and data science modeling solutions using techniques such as data mining, machine learning, or text mining
- Applying mathematical concepts, algorithms, and computational complexity
- Collaborating with colleagues to drive business value to the organization
- Presenting findings and reports to stakeholders
- Using programming languages such as Python, SQL, R, SAS, and data manipulation
Additionally, at least 2 years of experience working with large amounts of data and solving business problems, including:
- Developing data science solutions, including problem statement, feature engineering, model development, assessment, and testing, and deployment to a production environment
- Collaborating with engineering teams to address any issues in the production pipeline
- Productionizing, auditing, and tracking data science models in the online environment
- Working with Hive or Hadoop, machine learning, text mining, and Spark
Skills and Competencies:

- Strong expertise in machine learning, decision theory, and statistics
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, SQL, R, SAS, and data manipulation
- Experience with data engineering, feature engineering, model development, validation, and deployment
