About Cribl and the Role
Cribl is the data engine for IT and Security, trusted by many of the biggest names in demanding industries to solve their most pressing data needs. As a Senior Software Engineer at Cribl, you'll play a crucial role in shaping the technical direction and architecture of Cribl Lake, focusing on scalability, performance, and maintainability. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver end-to-end features and functionality, contributing significantly to the team's success.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Leadership: Contribute to the technical direction and architecture of Cribl Lake, ensuring scalability, performance, and maintainability.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Product, Operations, and other business functions to implement product roadmaps and objectives.
- Code Quality: Participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback to peers, and contribute to the development of best practices and engineering standards.
- Technical Debt Management: Identify and address technical debt, ensuring the long-term health of the codebase.
- Innovation and Optimization: Optimize and extend the capabilities of Cribl Lake, leveraging your expertise in distributed systems and cloud technologies.
Essential Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you'll need:
- Strong Programming Skills: A track record of writing clean, maintainable, and testable code in Node.js/TypeScript.
- Complex Development Experience: Significant experience in complex development environments, especially in large-scale, highly available distributed systems and SaaS platforms.
- Cloud Expertise: Solid expertise in developing resilient and scalable backend services on cloud providers, preferably AWS.
- Foundational Knowledge: Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, Linux, and distributed systems.
- Testing and Automation: Experience using assertion frameworks and tools like Mocha, Cypress, Jest to automate regression checks.
- Independence and Teamwork: Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a track record of learning quickly.
- Commitment to Quality: Dedication to elegant and high-quality software.
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications will make you an even more competitive candidate:
- Mentorship: Experience mentoring junior engineers.
- CI/CD Pipelines: Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines such as BitBucket, Jenkins, CircleCI, etc.
- Cloud Design Patterns: Experience implementing various cloud design patterns.
- Serverless Implementations: Knowledge of serverless/lambda-based implementations.
- Collaborative Mindset: Willingness to share ideas and contribute to team discussions.
- Remote Work Comfort: Comfort working remotely.
