About the Role
As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for the independent development, maintenance, and support of Home Depot's hardware and system software technical infrastructure. You will be part of a dynamic team of engineers who collaborate to build and develop technical and leadership skills in creating, deploying, and supporting production infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Delivery and Community Engagement (30%): Participate in educational activities, community practice, and knowledge sharing to stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and best practices.
- Learning and Innovation (15%): Stay current with innovations and changes in the sector, and contribute to learning activities to enhance technical community practices.
- Planning and Analysis (20%): Analyze business trends and behavior data to identify opportunities for repairs and new initiatives, and recommend technology solutions to meet business needs.
- Support and Maintenance (35%): Provide support for product and project teams, troubleshoot technical issues, and maintain existing systems and infrastructure to ensure high availability and performance.
Essential Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional or educational experience as an Information Technology Engineer.
- Experience working as part of a collaborative, cross-functional, modern engineering team.
- Experience with troubleshooting and remediation in various fields of Information Technology.
- Experience installing and upgrading applications or databases and performing system maintenance.
- Familiarity with system and environment analysis, design, and optimization.
- Knowledge of debuggers, runtime analysis, library systems, compiled programming, and software update tools.
- Experience with operational health and performance and configuration monitoring.
- Experience with operating system commands and tools such as scripting.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as GCP and Azure.
- Experience supporting 24×7 retail operations.
- Experience with version control systems.
- Experience with CI/CD toolchain.
- Experience designing production systems including infrastructure or code, high availability, and performance monitoring.
- Exposure to Site Reliability Engineering (SRE).
- 1+ years of previous management experience.
