Job Summary
We're seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our charter school team in Benton Harbor, MI. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a critical role in designing and implementing individualized education plans, providing tailored support, and fostering a positive learning environment that promotes academic excellence and social growth. This is a full-time, school-based position with a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for professional growth and development.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that cater to the unique needs and goals of each student
- Provide high-quality instruction, support, and accommodations to students with diverse needs and abilities
- Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and other stakeholders to ensure a comprehensive and supportive learning environment
- Assess student progress, adjust instruction, and communicate effectively with parents and guardians
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes social-emotional learning, academic achievement, and student engagement
- Participate in professional development opportunities, staying current on best practices and research-based methods in special education
Qualifications
- Graduate degree from a teaching program
- Current license as a Special Education Teacher in Michigan
- School experience preferred, but not required
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively with students, parents, and colleagues
- Commitment to creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with students with diverse needs and abilities
- Familiarity with special education laws, regulations, and best practices
- Experience with differentiated instruction, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and technology integration
