Special Services Technician II

SUMMARY JOB DESCRIPTION This is a service position responsible for supporting the operations of the Transportation & Special Services unit within the Physical Plant Department. Responsible for performing routine repetitive work involving various physically demanding tasks including, but not limited to, trash disposal, general asphalt and/or concrete work, heavy equipment operation, custodial and housekeeping duties, general labor, or any combination. Assists with providing transportation services as needed. Works under general supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Reports to the Special Services Foreperson. QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or equivalent is required. One year of related experience is required. Experience operating and driving a garbage truck and operating heavy machinery is preferred. Experience in asphalt work is preferred. Must obtain a State of Texas class “B” provisional commercial driver’s license within two weeks of employment; must be able to obtain a class “B” commercial driver’s license with “P” passenger endorsement within six months of employment.
