Job title: Staff Accountant Company: Anton Paar QuantaTec Inc Job description: The Staff Accountant is responsible for the financial processing of transactions, G/L entries, and managing financial close activities for Anton Paar QuantaTec. Roles and Responsibilities The Staff Accountant job duties include: • Accounts Payable management including receiving, auditing and processing a high volume of purchase order and non-purchase order related invoices in SAP workflow matching dollar amounts and item quantities to purchase orders and receipt confirmations, and ensuring postings to the proper cost elements and G/L accounts. • Accounts Receivable management including managing prepayments, applying payments, accruing/charging interest, creating certain group invoices, and dunning notifications • Performing daily bank postings, G/L entries, and check deposits • Preparing weekly posting of invoice payments and expense reimbursements • Performing monthly credit card statement and petty cash reconciliations • Supporting month, quarter and year-end closing procedures • Preparing monthly Plan to Actual variance reports by cost center and internal orders for distribution to management team highlighting deviations • Assisting with periodic internal and external financial audits, and providing supporting documentation as requested • Supporting the Purchasing department on questions regarding cost allocations, prepayments, Purchase Orders, Purchase requisitions, and other topics • Meeting processing and reporting deadlines • Maintaining fiscal files and records to document transactions • Maintaining vendor banking information in SAP • Analyzing, researching and proactively resolving invoicing issues • Communicating professionally with internal business units in order to resolve invoicing issues • Researching, responding and following up with vendor inquiries regarding invoicing and payment matters on a daily / weekly basis • Performing other duties as assigned Skills and Qualifications The Staff Accountant will possess strong technical knowledge, industry knowledge and soft skills including: • Accountability: Takes responsibility for all work activities and personal actions, follows through on commitments, and acknowledges and learns from mistakes • Collaboration: Works well with others on internal and external teams by using effective interpersonal skills • Integrity: Behaves honorably even when no one is watching and follows moral and ethical principles in all areas of work including decision making, interacting with colleagues, and servicing customers • Problem Solving: Ability to effectively identify challenging or complex issues, evaluate options, and resolve in the best interest of the organization • Quality of Work: Works to the highest of quality standards by anticipating problems, testing and checking their work, and pays close attention to detail • Time Management: Ability to deliver on time with optimal use of resources, achieve desired results within given time frames and decide between conflicting priorities Education and Experience • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, required. • 0 - 5 years of accounting experience • Team player that is self-motivated, has excellent communication skills and is capable of working in a high transaction volume environment • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel • Working knowledge of basic bookkeeping and accounting principles • Extraordinary attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills • Strong verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills • Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment • Ability to handle confidential information in a discreet, professional manner • Ability to be an effective team member and display initiative Preferred Skills: • Experience in a manufacturing environment Supervision Exercised This role is an independent contributor who is a member of multiple teams and does not have supervisory responsibilities. Physical Requirements & Working Conditions While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, observe, communicate and handle items such as computers, machinery and other equipment. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. In regards to organizational issues, the employee will comply with the regulations set forward in the Anton Paar Employee Handbook, except if otherwise stated.
