Staff Accountant II - Area Stock Yards (Hybrid: Onsite and Remote Work)

About the position This position is a hybrid role that combines three onsite days per week with remote work. The primary focus of this role is to manage various accounting functions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial regulations. The individual will be responsible for preparing month-end journal entries and conducting assigned balance sheet reconciliations. This includes completing general ledger and subledger account analysis, as well as preparing and assisting with the review of financial statements as part of the close process. The role also involves providing necessary reports for customer and vendor analysis, compiling audit support as requested by both internal and external auditors, and developing a comprehensive understanding of the end-to-end processes and business knowledge related to the assigned area. In addition to these responsibilities, the candidate will be expected to demonstrate the values and behaviors aligned with the Company Cultural Beliefs. This includes assisting with the research of inventory costing issues and conducting analyses to ensure proper cost accounting practices are followed. The position also requires providing annual budget and monthly forecast support and analysis to ensure accurate projections of financial results. Timely responses to requests for information and reports from auditors, regional, or corporate associates are essential, as well as completing special projects and analyses as requested by senior leadership and corporate finance teams. Responsibilities • Prepares month-end journal entries and assigned balance sheet reconciliations , • Completes general ledger and subledger account analysis , • Prepares and assists with review of financial statements as part of the close process , • Provides reports as required for customers and vendor analysis , • Compiles and provides audit support as requested by internal and external auditors , • Develops end-to-end process and business knowledge of assigned area , • Assists with research of inventory costing issues and analysis to ensure proper cost accounting , • Provides annual budget and monthly forecast support and analysis for accurate projection of results , • Responds timely to requests for information/reports from auditors, regional or corporate associates , • Completes special projects and analysis as requested by senior and corporate finance leadership Requirements • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field required , • Minimum of two years in general accounting; cost accounting experience preferred , • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset , • Attention to detail and organizational skills; multi-task oriented; and ability to meet deadlines , • Proficient in Microsoft Office with advanced Excel skills , • Experience with PeopleSoft accounting preferred , • Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles , • Effective oral and written communication skills , • Ability to work with and demonstrate discretion with confidential information Nice-to-haves Benefits Apply Job!
