Job description: StaffDrafts Legal is representing a growing FinTech company in its search for an Attorney to join the company as Legal Counsel. This is a fully remote position.
You will be the go-to legal expert for handling day-to-day product and regulatory matters and initiatives.
You will work closely with different teams and advise internal, and senior stakeholders on legal considerations.
Regular Responsibilities
• Work closely and effectively to provide legal and regulatory advice to cross-functional teams, including Product, Marketing/Communications, Finance, Sales, Business Development, and Operations.
• Help shape legal and regulatory frameworks and approaches that foster responsible innovation and enhance small business access to capital and financial products.
• Make a meaningful contribution to the company's expanding set of products and services.
• Draft, review, brainstorm, negotiate, and revise a wide range of materials including product flows, copy, and disclosures, regulatory overviews and advice, commercial contracts and legal documents (e.g. master services agreements), and comment letters.
• Provide strategic business and legal advice to develop a comprehensive, long-term approach to our relationships with key partners, regulators, and vendors.
• Assist in handling and responding to disputes, regulatory inquiries, and litigation.
• Ability to critically analyze law, regulation, and public policy and work with senior stakeholders.
What we're looking for:
• J.D. degree with strong academic credentials and CA, NY, or NJ state bar membership in good standing.
• Minimum 3-4 years of law firm or in-house legal experience.
• Experience with banking/financial products, network rules, payments, commercial lending, and/or credit card is strongly preferred.
• Superior analytical, drafting, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively and independently with a wide variety of stakeholders, including executive management.
• General understanding of financial products and commercial laws.
• Detail-oriented and creative with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
