Student Tracking System in Microsoft 365 (SharePoint & Power Automate)

We are seeking an experienced Microsoft 365 developer to design and build a new student tracking system for the Students in Schools programme at the University of Reading. You can find out more about the scheme here: The goal is to replace our manual processes with a secure, user-friendly solution built in SharePoint, Microsoft Forms, and Power Automate. This will enable us to manage student volunteers more effectively, while allowing students to securely view their own information and progress. CORE FEATURES Sign-up form (Forms or Power Apps). Students submit details and select training courses. Data is stored automatically in SharePoint Lists. Students are added to a register for training attendance. SharePoint Lists (database). Central store of student records, training registers, and placement data. Configured permissions so students can only view their own record. Progress tracking (admin view). An interface where staff can update each student’s stage: applied → trained → placed → completed. Student portal view. Each student sees only their own record, including personal details, training courses, and assigned school placement. Automatic email notifications. Confirmation emails on sign-up, reminders for training, placement confirmation messages, and completion/thank-you notifications. Homepage / noticeboard. A SharePoint landing page where admins can post news and updates throughout the year. CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS Proven experience building business applications in Microsoft 365. Strong skills in SharePoint Online, Power Automate, and Forms (Power Apps desirable). Ability to configure permissions so users can securely access only their own data. Previous experience designing workflow automation (approvals, notifications, reporting). Clear communication and ability to document or hand over the system.
