Nyeusi is a distinctive UK-registered charity dedicated exclusively to supporting individuals from Black African, Black Caribbean, and related backgrounds across the globe.

Our mission is rooted in unity, empowerment, and the promotion of economic and cultural excellence within the Black community. Guided by the values of love, peace, and pride in cultural heritage, we work to foster a fair and compassionate society where Black individuals can thrive and lead.

Our work focuses on two core objectives:

1. Alleviating poverty and suffering while promoting equality and peaceful conflict resolution.
2. Celebrating and educating through arts and culture, preserving and advancing the global contributions of the Black community.

Role Description

We are seeking committed individuals to join our Board of Trustees and contribute to the governance, strategy, and long-term sustainability of Nyeusi. As a Trustee, you will help shape the vision and future of the organisation while ensuring that our mission and values remain at the heart of all that we do.

This is a remote, voluntary position requiring a commitment of around 3 hours per month, including attendance at bi-weekly board meetings.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and oversight in line with the charity’s mission.
• Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory obligations.
• Contribute to financial planning, risk management, and effective resource allocation.
• Support the development and implementation of policies and strategic initiatives.
• Act as an ambassador for Nyeusi, helping to build relationships and raise awareness.
• Uphold the values and integrity of the organisation in all activities and decision-making.

Qualifications

We are particularly interested in candidates who bring experience and expertise in one or more of the following areas:

• Governance & Compliance
• Financial Management or Oversight
• Strategic Planning & Policy Development
• Nonprofit Leadership & Operations
• Advocacy & Stakeholder Engagement

Additional qualities include:

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• A deep commitment to the mission and values of Nyeusi
• Previous board or trustee experience (preferred but not essential)
